A headshot of Sonya, a white woman in her mid-20’s. Sonya has long dark hair and smiles brightly at the camera. She wears a sleeveless gold shirt.

Sonya (she/her) is a multiply-disabled systems thinker, community organizer, and cultural worker who is a Policy Associate at New Disabled South. Born and raised in upstate NY by two moms, Sonya has had the pleasure of learning from a diverse array of marginalized folks and accomplices across the country to move towards collective liberation. With roots in Atlanta, Georgia, Sonya has generated collaborations across theatre, dance, film, human services, and local, state, and regional advocacy efforts to realize a world where historically oppressed people have dignity and autonomy. Notably, she served as the first disabled Co-Executive Director of Dance for All Bodies. Formally, Sonya holds a BA in Arts Management from Purchase college, SUNY, a Certification in Professional Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), and a graduate certificate in Social Justice from Harvard University. Currently, she is a student in Harvard University Extension School’s Global Development Practice Masters program. When not studying or analyzing policy, Sonya enjoys cycling and spending time with her partner.
